Short little 200-word ditty, during S2.He'd been served before the breathing tube was out.
Thankfully, he'd been alone at the time; Suresh had taken Molly down to the cafeteria for lunch, hoping to find some viable veggies to offset the fourth straight day of fried food. The guy with the papers had come in, done a double-take (what did he expect to see in a hospital?), and after looking confused for several moments said, "I'm here on behalf of Janice Parkman. You are hereby served with divorce papers." Then he'd dropped the papers on the swing table positioned over Matt's bed, then left without another word.
Mixed in with the legal papers—which obviously had been started not too long after he had left to go after Bennet—was a sealed envelope with his name on the outside in her own handwriting. It took him three days to read it, and another five to accept it.
Matt, it's not yours.
Please don't make this harder than it has to be.
